Beer and honey sound absolutely tempting for a cake recipe.  Add to this tasty ingredients like black walnuts and apple butter will make for a wonderful cake.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c — Butter
  • 2 c — Sugar
  • 4 — Eggs
  • 1/2 c — Orange juice
  • 1/2 c — Apple butter
  • 3/4 c — Honey
  • 4 c — Flour, sifted
  • 2 tsp – Baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp — Salt
  • 1 tsp – Baking soda
  • 1 tsp – Nutmeg
  • 1 tsp — Cloves
  • 1 tsp – Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp – Allspice
  • 1 c — Beer
  • 1 c — Raisins, seedless
  • 1/2 c — Black walnuts, chopped

Instructions.

  1. Preheat oven to 325F.
  2. Cream butter and sugar til fluffy.
  3. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Add apple butter, orange juice and honey. Mix together well.
  5. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with beer, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
  6. Add raisins and nuts which have been coated with flour.
  7. Pour batter in greased and floured tube pan.
  8. Bake for 1 hour and 20 min.
  9. Sprinkle top and sides with confectioners sugar to finish.
